ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- "Are you tough enough to wear pink?" That was the question members of the bull riding community were asking this evening at Glynners Pub in Rochester Thusrday. They were there to support 'Join the Journey,' a local organization that sponsors women battling breast cancer. Thursday was a pre-event gearing up for the bull riding challenge tomorrow night at Olmsted County Fairgrounds.
'Tough Enough to Wear Pink' was created by entrepreneur and breast cancer survivor Terry Wheatley. Fundraiser Coordinator Pam Mickelson brought the event to Rochester and talked about why the cause is close to her heart.
"My sister was diagnosed four years ago, before that I had a best friend, and since, my sister-in-law. And as many of us know, we've all pretty much been touched by breast cancer," Mickelson said.
The bull riding challenge is tomorrow night at the Graham Arena. For every person who buys a ticket and wears pink, four dollars will be donated to support breast cancer awareness. You can purchase your tickets at the event, at the Wicked Moose or at the Country Feed Store.
