One seriously injured after crash on Highway 61

NEAR KELLOGG, Minn. (KTTC) --  A Wabasha man was seriously injured this weekend, after his car plowed into a tree.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 26-year-old Alex Maritim of Wabasha was northbound on Highway 61, south of Kellogg Sunday evening.

He ran off the road and struck a tree.

State Patrol says the roads were icy and alcohol was detected in his system but they continue to investigate what caused the crash.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth's hospital in Wabasha with serious injuries, and later transferred to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, where he was listed in critical condition Monday.
