ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- An armed man surrendered peacefully after a brief standoff with Rochester police Monday.

Officers were called at about 12:30 p.m. to a report of a man with a hunting rifle and handgun at a house near the intersection of 11th Avenue Northeast and Center Street.

The report came from a family member concerned about the mental health of their loved one. Rochester police Sgt. Chris Lowrie said after a brief standoff the adult agreed to seek help and went to treatment.

If you know someone suffering from mental illness, there are a number of resources in Olmsted County that you can turn to.
