Mitchell Co. Jail inmate pronounced dead


OSAGE, Iowa (KTTC) -- An inmate died Thursday evening in the Mitchell County Jail.

According to the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office, a deputy found the inmate unresponsive at about 6 p.m. Thursday.

The deputy entered the cell and initiated CPR. An ambulance transported the inmate to the Mitchell County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The inmate had been arrested on drug charges and booked into the jail on Thursday, according to the sheriff's office.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the State Medical Examiner's Office are investigating.
