ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A sexual assault conviction for a former Virginia School Board member has been overturned on appeal.
The court overturned a second-degree felony sexual assault conviction, but upheld a conviction for soliciting a child for sexual conduct. The solicitation charge against Donovan Strong had been dismissed in district court because it's associated with the same behavior at Lake Vermillion in July 2011. The ruling sent that charge back to district court for further consideration.
Strong was accused of pulling on a bow string of a 12-year-old girl's bikini bottom during a Fourth of July gathering. The Mesabi Daily News says Strong was sentenced in December 2011 to one year at the Northeast Regional Correction Center in Duluth.
