ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Despite a road block hit by the Destination Medical Center bill on Tuesday, Governor Dayton spoke out in support of it at his budget address Thursday.
At Tuesday's House Tax Committee hearing, chairwoman Ann Lenczewski of Bloomington said she was concerned the tax preferences Mayo is seeking could come at too steep a price. She also said the bill would need a considerable makeover to get through her committee.
Dayton says he wants to find a way to give Mayo Clinic the financial support and security it needs for the Destination Medical Center.
Bill sponsor, DFL State Representative Kim Norton of Rochester, is confident the bill will eventually pass through the House Tax Committee after a few adjustments.
