ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Just as the Cardinals were making their decision at the Vatican, here in Rochester, the Sisters of Saint Francis were gathering this morning to pray.
They live in the Mother House at Assisi Heights, high overlooking Rochester.
And they gathered in their sanctuary, Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, for mass.
Parish officials note these women have given their whole lives to do God's work on Earth, and even in this Order, there is a connection to the work of the Church in South America.
Back in 1961, they answered the call of the Pope to serve in developing countries, and established schools and a clinic in Bogota, Colombia.
They say they were very excited the new Pope chose the name Francis, as a sign he embraces Franciscan values--serving people in need around the world.
