Winter Storm To Bring More Snow To Region

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Winter Storm will likely affect the area from early Monday morning to Tuesday afternoon.  Storm totals when all is said and done late Tuesday could rival, if not even exceed the most we have seen in the last two Winters with an individual storm.

Snow will likely start after Midnight, during the early morning hours for places around I-35 and points west.  Folks in Austin and Albert Lea could wake up to 1-3" of snow by the morning commute.

Snow will get underway a touch later heading east.  This storm has a chance to drop about an inch of snow by the morning commute.

As it looks now, the steadiest/heaviest snow will fall in the late morning to early afternoon hours on Monday before becoming lighter once again.  Snow should continue to fall through the overnight on Monday before shutting off completely late Tuesday afternoon.

The Monday morning, Monday evening, and Tuesday morning commutes are all expected to be impacted.

By the time the accumulating snow is done late Tuesday afternoon a general 6-10 inches can be expected.  In this range isolated amounts of 12" will be possible.

The important thing to note is that this storm is a bit different than recent storms in the sense that these totals, although relatively high, will be spread out over a long period of time.  While there certainly can be heavier bursts through the event, the snow of this magnitude may be slightly less impactful than ones in the past.
