MASON CITY, Iowa (KTTC) - Two teenagers are in custody this morning, after fire destroyed a home in Mason City Thursday.
Around 5pm Thursday, Mason City police and fire responded to a house fire on the 1600 block of South Wilson Avenue.
As they finished putting out the fire, a call came into police, reporting 2 suspicious subjects nearby.
Officers found two juvenials in a vehicle at Cresswell Repair.
One tried to run but was quickly caught.
The boys, 13 and 14, were runaways from Francis Lauer Youth Shelter, and admitted to setting the house on fire-- and being in the process of stealing a vehicle.
The investigation is on-going, and charges will likely follow. We'll have the latest on this story during NewsCenter at noon.
