WINONA, Minn. (KTTC)--  An open house at the Winona County History Center gave many people an opportunity to have a little fun indoors today.

The annual event was free to the public and gave visitors a hands-on experience with history.
There was everything from dress up,  to arts and crafts, to various entertainment.

Dozens volunteered there time to make this all possible, and Mark Peterson, who helps head the event says events like this help to get people in the door to see what the center is all about, "You get people in the door and they're comfortable with the place, they haven't seen it before, maybe they take out a membership, maybe they buy something in the gift shop, maybe they go back and tell their friends, or when somebody's visiting they bring them down."

The history center is open 7 days a week and you can check out their event calendar by going to
