WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The jury in the Kevin Ambrose murder trial heard from a 7-year-old witness Thursday morning.

Ambrose, 34, of Waterloo, is accused in the first-degree murder of 59-year-old Kay Straw last May.

Ambrose also faces attempted murder charges for shooting Straw's daughter, Marlene Buss, and attempting to shoot Buss' ex-boyfriend, Undray Reed.

On Thursday, Buss's 7-year-old son testified. The 7-year-old is the last person to see Straw, his grandmother, alive.

The boy said he was eating strawberries in the kitchen when Ambrose walked into the house.

He said he watched Ambrose walk in, set down his bat, and put the gun to Undray Reed's head -- the boy's father.

The boy said he was trying to leave through the back door with his grandmother when Ambrose shot Straw.
