CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -
The Board of Regents will announce the next president of the University of Northern Iowa on Thursday.
Drs. Michael Wartell and William Ruud are the only two finalists after an announcement came Tuesday that Dr. Avijit Ghosh withdrew his candidacy.
The Board of Regents will meet at the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Thursday, the Board will meet with both candidates for the final stages of the search to replace current President Ben Allen.
Dr. Wartell, of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, will meet with the Board between 9 and 9:30 a.m.; and Dr. Ruud, of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, will meet with them from 10:45 until 11:15 a.m.
Then, after a closed session for deliberation, the Board will elect the 10th president of the University of Northern Iowa.
