ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The 59th Annual Eagles Cancer Telethon had donations coming in from around the region. With millions raised in years past, the 59th year is proving no different.
Telethon Director Teresa Chapman says such a serious subject like cancer is difficult to ignore.
Chapman says, "It's something that has touched each and every one of us at some point."
The event ran through the night, with different talents taking center stage.
Even off the stage.
"Okay I'm going to have you come out to the edge here."
Hair donations were being made. Anyone can get any amount of hair cut from their head for $15 so why not donate.
City Looks Salon & Spa's GerriLynn Gudmundson says, "I have many dear dear clients that I've had over the years that I do this in memory of every year. I'd love to name them all. And they are near and dear to my heart. And every year that I do this I just remember them."
Year after year cancer numbers increase.
So then do the volunteer hours to help put an end to cancer once and for all.
"The preparation for the telethon starts the day after the 59th for the 60th."
"We're looking forward to our 60th, but it looks like our 59th is going to be an amazing year."
This year the telethon raised more than $900,000. Final totals are not in yet.
