39 new jobs are coming to Butler County

A new factory is bringing 39 jobs to rural Butler County.

The Butler County Development Corporation says ZinproCorporation will be constructing new facility in the Butler Logistics Park, located off Highway 3, west of Shell Rock.

"Its good for all the county and good for all the Cedar Valley region simply because it's creating jobs," Executive Director of the Butler County Development Corporation Jeff Kolb said. "People go where the jobs are, where the opportunities are."

Kolb says that 39 employees will be hired over the next three years with wages above $16 per hour.

ZinproCorp. manufactures the nutritional components that go into livestock and poultry feed.

The state of Iowa approved incentives for Zinpro Friday. The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) board awarded $320,000 in direct financial assistance as well as tax benefits to Zinpro.

"Butler County, being a rural county, just like most rural counties, we have had population loss over the last several decades," Kolb said. "The only way we are going to reverse that trend is to create employment opportunities and providing the amenities that young families want and employment is key to that."

The company will acquire a spec building from the Butler County Development Corporation for their warehouse and office. Zinpro will also construct a new 30,000 square foot building adjacent to the spec building.

Kolb expects the land acquisition to close within the next 30 days.

Construction for the spec building is already underway, and the construction for the second building is expected to start this spring.
