Man found guilty of murder in stabbing

MASON CITY, Iowa (KTTC) -- The man accused of stabbing to death a Mason City resident is found guilty of murder.

A Cerro Gordo County jury found 22-year-old James Farnsworth II of Waterloo guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Ian Decker.

On April 14, police said Decker was found lying on the ground on East State Street in Mason City with a serious stab wound.

He later died at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Farnsworth's defense argued he acted in self-defense.

Farnsworth's charges carry a mandatory 50 years in prison.

A sentencing date has not been set.
