Texas man arrested in ER after stuffing needles in pockets

AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- A man has been jailed after allegedly being caught red-handed trying to stuff his pockets with syringes, saline and various medical supplies at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin. 

Police Chief Brian Krueger says Jeffrie Eastman, 30, of Harlingen, Texas, had gone to the Emergency Room of MCHS-Austin complaining of stomach pain.  But after hospital staff caught him trying to steal blood pressure cuffs and other materials from the examining room, officers took him away to the Adult Detention Center just after 3 p.m. Friday.

Chief Krueger says Eastman has outstanding warrants for his arrest from both Renville County and McLeod County in Minnesota and admitted to officers that "he is a heavy drug user."
