Smoke on plane forces flight back to airport

An American Airline flight had to come back to the Eastern Iowa Airport after a smoke indicator went off on the plane.

The plane was flying from Cedar Rapids to Chicago Wednesday when someone smelled smoke coming from the cargo area.

The plane returned to the airport around 7 p.m.

The Eastern Iowa Airport Public Safety Commander Kenneth Washburn says seven passengers and three crew members were on the flight at time.

No one was injured.

The cause is still to be determined.
