ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Christmas shopping season may officially be over but retail stores are still busy in Rochester.
Whether people are returning gifts or spending their gift cards, shoppers don't seem to be taking much of a holiday break.
Most people were picking up marked down Christmas decorations, wrapping paper and candy to put into storage until next Christmas rolls around.
"We decided that we had to come right away because everyone comes in the morning to get all the good deals, and we're pretty specific," said Mallory Halva who was out shopping with her mom. "We like the golds and slivers, maroons and greens for the wrapping paper, and the nicer ones usually go faster so we wanted to make sure we could get the ones we wanted for next year."
Others at the store were busy returning or exchanging gifts they either got doubles of or clothes that didn't fit just right.
We spoke with one family who happened to get a duplicate doll this year, so they got to take the money from that and do a little extra post-holiday indulging.
"Usually we don't exchange very many things but just because we already got the same gift we thought we'd better get something different," said Heidi Howe who was shopping with her daughters
The girls said they planned to use the money to pick up a new outfit for one of their other dolls.
Shoppers say the post-Christmas shopping is a lot more fun and low key than the Black Friday tradition, and it's a good way to get out of that lazy holiday mood.
