MASON CITY, Iowa (KTTC) -- A Mason City man has been charged after allegedly abusing a woman.
William Purvis, 58, is charged with first degree sexual abuse, domestic assault, and willful injury.
He's accused of beating a woman so severely that she needed to be rushed to the Emergency Room.
Police arrested Purvis Sunday evening.
The woman had sent a cry for help through a Facebook message to one of her friends who then called the police.
Purvis is being held on $150,000 bond and is expected to appear in court next Friday.
