ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Rochester family gets an early Christmas present as their own soldier comes home for the holidays.
Pfc. Patrick McGee returned from his first tour of duty in Afghanistan just in time to celebrate Christmas with his family.
His mother and siblings have been eagerly waiting to see him for the last nine months.
McGee said even though he was able to come home, not all soldiers are as fortunate and he sends them well wishes.
"That's really hard. I support them completely," McGee said. "I know what they are going through when it comes to holidays. But Christmas, that's a pretty big deal. And I just hope the best for them."
McGee says he has a love-hate relationship for his line of work but still *loves his job very much.
As for his mother, Paris, she said the time apart has been difficult but she is very proud at what Patrick has accomplished
