Remains found in burned-out car in Mason City

MASON CITY, Iowa (KTTC) -- A gruesome discovery in the front seat of a burned-out car.

Mason City fire crews responded last Friday to a vehicle fire in the 600 block of North Maryland.

After putting out the fire, firefighters discovered the remains of an adult man in the passenger seat.

Mason City police said there is no indication of foul play in the death.

The Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim, but his name has not been released.
