Nicholas Nelson
STEWARTVILLE, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Stewartville man has been charged after being caught with child pornography.
Nicholas Nelson, 20, is facing one count of disseminating pornography and two counts of possession of pornography.
Olmsted County deputies carried out a search warrant at 419 5th Avenue Southeast on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a criminal complaint, Nelson admitted to downloading more than 100 images of child porn since 2009.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force tracked the images to Nelson's computer.
"When they [Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force] identify a specific computer that's being used to download child pornography, it allows them the opportunity to reach out to an officer in that local agency so they can in turn work on getting that person stopped," said Sgt. Tom Claymon of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force uses a database to track people who view pornographic images online.
Local law enforcement can use that information to make arrests.
