WATERLOO (KWWL) -
The tragic ending to the missing cousins case has hit the Waterloo Community School District especially hard.
Two bodies that are assumed to be those of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook were found by hunters Wednesday afternoon.
The girls attended Kingsley and Poyner Elementary schools, where community members tied pink ribbons in their honor this summer.
Today, grief counselors from AEA 267, Cedar Valley Hospice, Cedar Falls and Waterloo schools were on hand to help students and staff.
Extra administrators and substitute teachers also stepped in to help with coping and answering tough questions from students.
The district is encouraging everyone to extend that same support to the girls' families.
"I hope the whole community will rally around the two families like they did back during the search times, but in a different way -- rally around them for support and for prayers and just to comfort the families," said Dr. Gary Norris, Waterloo Community Schools superintendent.
Grief counselors will continue to be at local schools as long as they're needed.
