GLENVILLE, Minn. (KTTC) -- Two people were awakened by neighbors and managed to get out of their burning home alive late Sunday night in Glenville.
The home at 481 Hillcrest Drive is owned by Shelly Soltau. Assistant Fire Chief Matt Webb says she and a friend escaped the fire thanks to good batteries in the home's smoke alarms, and her neighbors.
"The neighbors were the ones who called it in," said Webb. "They pounded on the doors and got 'em awake and out of the house."
Webb tells KTTC NewsCenter the fire might have been caused by chimney failure or something associated with a wood stove that was in use in the home.
No one was hurt in the fire. When firefighters arrived on the scene about 11 p.m., Webb said they could still hear the smoke alarms sounding inside the house.
