Quirk abruptly quits Iowa House

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa (KTTC) -- The Iowa state representative just elected to a new term from Floyd, Chickasaw and Cerro Gordo Counties abruptly quite the Iowa House Wednesday afternoon.

Brian Quirk of New Hampton says it has been a great honor -- but he has resigned his House seat effective immediately to pursue new opportunities.

The governor must set a special election within five days for voters in House District 52.
