Shoppers start Black Friday early

ROCHESTER Minn. (KTTC) -- There weren't crowds, but there was a hardy bunch of shoppers waiting outside Target about four hours before it opened Thanksgiving night.

Whether it's because you're a seasoned veteran or trying a crazy experiment.

It's apparently not too hard to justify spending a few hours of Thanksgiving sitting a Target in Minnesota.

For most, it was about the electronics. Big screen TVs, iPods and e-readers topped the lists of Thanksgiving shoppers.

And for some, the early start was a benefit. It meant no early wake-up, and a full stomach of dinner to stay warm.

And staying warm was exactly what the shoppers needed. While the morning started out mild, as the evening wore on, some shoppers say they even spotted snowflakes.

Hand warmers, layers and blankets were popular defenses against the cold.

But some said the company of other shoppers helped get them through the night because there's some kinship in being the type to spend your Thanksgiving evening bundled up and out in the cold.
