Turkey Day 5K

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Over 700 people participated in Grace Evangelical Free Church's second annual Turkey Day 5-K.

Like many others across the country today the people of  wanted to celebrate this Thanksgiving holiday as a community. The race included parishioners, their families, friends and anyone interested in participating from surrounding communities.

Runners paid a five dollar entry fee to go towards the expense of the race. For the 5k's organizer, Gary Kadansky, the race was about bringing the church together before the busy holiday season begins.

"It's almost turning into a gathering place of being able to visit after the race and just connect with friends and then everybody's on their way to celebrate the day of Thanksgiving," said Kadansky

Runners completed a course that wrapped around the Church and surrounding neighborhoods. The average time for completing the 5K was about half an hour.
