Father, son plead not guilty in shooting near Austin

AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) --  Two men charged in the shooting of a woman near Austin have pleaded not guilty.

Joseph and Daniel Peterson appeared in Mower County Court Monday morning and entered pleas of not guilty to multiple counts of assault. Daniel Peterson is also charged with attempted murder and pleaded not guilty. The father and son were arrested at their home in Udolpho Township earlier this month. Investigators said both men shot at a woman and two people who were in a car outside the Peterson's house.

One of the shots hit a woman in the face.  She was driven to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, where the hospital was then put on lockdown for about half an hour while deputies searched for the gunmen.  The woman was treated at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester and released last week.  She will need reconstructive surgery, but is expected to be OK.

Both men are being held on $500,000 bond. Their trials were set for March of next year.
