AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- A former Mower County employee who pleaded guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars from the county almost ten years ago is facing a new felony theft charge.
Cheryl Barrett, 53, pleaded not guilty to a charge that she allowed others to steal merchandise while working at the Apollo Superette on Oakland Avenue in Austin.
According to the criminal complaint, Barrett allowed people to take groceries on at least three occasions from the store in February. She also admitted to stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes over a 27-month period.
Barrett is due back in court on March 15.
