AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- Many Minnesota colleges are waiving their application fees for high school seniors who apply through Friday in honor of "Minnesota College Application Week."
Riverland Community College was one of many colleges across the state to allow students to apply for free this week at its "Big Day on Campus" event.
More than 80 students from area high schools turned out Thursday to hear an admissions presentation, tour the campus and meet with student ambassadors over lunch.
At Riverland, where enrollment has seen only a slight decline, Thursday's event was held in an effort to increase enrollment once again.
"We've gotten a lot of calls from high school counselors who have encouraged their students to apply this week," said enrollment advisor Nel Zellar. "For a lot of students, even a $20 application fee can be a road block. So we're really happy that we're able to waive that for those students."
After the presentation, students were encouraged to use campus computers to enroll online for free.
