AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Austin Utilities Board of Commissioners has approved a utilities rate hike for 2013.
Residents will see an average increase of $1.28 a month for electricity and an average increase of $1.27 a month for water.
There will be no increase for gas.
Factors driving the increase are higher operating and maintenance costs, along with necessary infrastructure improvements.
The increase will go into effect starting January 1.
