Firefighters respond to ruptured gas line at RCTC

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Rochester firefighters worried they were responding to a potential disaster Tuesday night at RCTC.

Crews were called just after 6 p.m. to a report of a 5-inch gas line rupture next to the inflatable dome at the Rochester Regional Sports Stadium.

The Rochester Fire Department said the high pressure leak and its proximity to the fabric dome created the potential for a fiery and catastrophic explosion.

The source of the leak was from a smaller, low pressure line than what was reported.

Crews quickly got the situation under control.
