Defending Class 2A champion Dike-New Hartford took the first step towards defending its title with a 25-15, 25-7, 25-17 victory over Sumner-Fredericksburg Thursday afternoon.
All-stater Briana Weber had 14 kills and eight digs to lead the Wolverines while Brooke Morgan added 13 kills with 11 digs. Lizzy Blough added five service aces for the unbeaten Wolverines, who improve to 43-0.
Kally Frisch led Sumner-Fredericksburg (24-7) with five kills.
Dike-New Hartford will face West Branch or Council Bluffs St. Albert at 5:15 Friday on Court One.
