AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- Bail is set at $500,000 each for two men charged in the shooting of a woman near Austin.
Daniel Peterson, 62, is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault with intent to cause great bodily harm and three counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. His son, Joseph Peterson, 27, is charged with three counts of second-degree assault and one count of felon in possession of a gun.
According to the criminal complaint, both fired guns at three people in a vehicle outside the Peterson's house Thursday afternoon in the 29000 block of 560th Avenue. It all started when three people drove to visit Joseph Peterson. The criminal complaint said Peterson began acting strange and fired a gun at the three. Daniel Peterson is accused of firing at the vehicle as well.
Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said a woman in the vehicle was wounded. The woman switched seats with a passenger who drove her to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, according to the criminal complaint. The facility went on lockdown for about 30 minutes Thursday because of a "high-risk patient." Joseph and Daniel Peterson were arrested at their house Thursday afternoon.
Amazi said the woman was later taken to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester and was listed in serious condition on Friday.
The Mower County Sheriff's Office expects to release more information on Monday.
