A former employee at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics is accused of more than a quarter of a million dollars in misused money.
Jennifer Whitmore-Meier was an IT support consultant for the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.
An audit includes allegations she bought more than $200,000 of computer equipment with department funds, then sold it on eBay, keeping the money.
The audit also reports Whitmore-Meier claimed expenses for a work conference to New Orleans, but went to Hawaii instead.
The audit says the university put Whitmore-Meier on paid leave in November 2011 pending the investigation. She left for good two months later.
Johnson County Attorney Janet Lyness says her office is reviewing the audit to determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
Copies of the report have also been filed with the Board of Regents' Office of Internal Audit, the University of Iowa's Department of Public Safety, the Division of Criminal Investigation, and Attorney General's Office.
