ELGIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- A major highway detour began Friday just south of Elgin, as construction workers work to replace an aging bridge on Highway 42 over the Whitewater River.
The closed highway section goes from Plainview to Olmsted County Road 2. Drivers will be detoured onto Wabasha County Road 4 and eventually back to highway 42.
Weather permitting, the highway will re-open in early November.
NewsCenter's Courtney Sturgeon will have more on the effort to replace aging bridges across our region, tonight at 5 and 6 p.m.
