Couple found dead near canoe identified

GRAND MARAIS, Minn. (AP) -- Cook County sheriff's officials have identified two people found dead near their capsized canoe in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Authorities say the victims are a couple from Forest Lake -- 55-year-old Thomas Pineault and 51-year-old Cynthia Pineault. Both were wearing life jackets when their bodies were found Sunday afternoon in the water near the Sawbill Lake entrance to the Boundary Waters.

The Duluth News Tribune reports officials say windy conditions and a temperature drop could have been factors in their deaths.
