Funeral arrangements are now set for an area man who family members say was murdered last week. Services for 70-year-old Ken Gallmeyer will happen Thursday morning at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. Gallmeyer was found at his home in rural Chickasaw County.
The Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office is not saying how he died, but the state medical examiner has ruled Gallmeyer's death a homicide.
There are still plenty of questions that need to be answered in rural Chickasaw County into the murder of Ken Gallmeyer. The Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office still has the driveway blocked off at the entrance of Gallmeyer's home.
Authorities have released few details into the death of Gallmeyer even to his family.
"We just want to find out why and get some answers," said Lisa Well, Ken Gallmeyer's niece.
Wells says she has great memories of her uncle. Many of them revolve around the grocery store he once owned in the small community of Clarksville. Wells says she will miss so many things about her uncle.
"His big smile and his big hugs and just how he was always happy… Always happy. He was just willing to do anything for anybody," said Wells.
Wells also says she can't believe someone would want to hurt her uncle Kenny.
"Nobody can imagine that he had any enemies anywhere, ya know. So this is even more of a shock because of that."
Wells and few other family members are planning a candlelight vigil for her uncle. "I've talked with a lot of people today that I don't even know that were close friends and grew up with him and that's what they said too, just his big smile and his big heart," said Wells.
The Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office says it will not be releasing any more information regarding this case right now.
The family of Ken Gallmeyer will be holding a candlelight vigil Friday evening. It will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Volunteer City Park in Clarksville. The family is asking those attending to bring candles and flashlights.
