ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Rochester police are investigating a sex assault after a man broke into a woman's home early Friday morning.
It happened in the 600 block of Rocky Creek Drive Northeast at 1 a.m. A 28-year-old Rochester woman was asleep in the residence when she was wakened by a man groping her, according to Lt. Casey Moilanen.
The man fled when the woman woke up.
Over the past few months, there have been several sexual assaults in Rochester.
"It's not common for us to see this many sexual assaults where somebody is entering somebody's residence. So it's very unusual for us to have this many reported sexual assaults, especially in this short period of time," Moilanen said.
Rochester police have a suspect description but so far they're only releasing that he is a white male.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about vehicles in the area overnight to call investigators at 328-6800 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
