Heather Burian joined the News 19 team as a multimedia journalist in August 2012.

Before making the move to La Crosse, Heather worked as a reporter/intern for WISC-TV News 3 (CBS)/WMSN Fox 47 in Madison, Wis. and as a production intern at Fox News Channel for the O'Reilly Factor and On The Record with Greta Van Susteren.

Heather is a proud Badger, graduating the University of Wisconsin-Madison with honors in journalism and a certificate in criminal justice. There, she was host of 91.7FM WSUM's award-winning public policy show "On Wisconsin," the production director for the station and a news reporter/producer for the drive time newscast.

In 2011 she worked as the video director of the Badger Herald, a leading independent student newspaper. She served as city editor in 2009.

Heather is an award-winning journalist. She's been honored by the Wisconsin Broadcaster Association for hosting "On Wisconsin" and for producing WSUM newscasts, the Milwaukee Press Club for her broadcast on the Occupy Madison protests, along with other national accolades for her work as a print journalist.

Heather loves rock climbing – on a rock wall, not a mountain – dancing and watching superhero movies, especially ones that include Batman.  She's originally from Woodbury, N.Y.
