The Waterloo Police Department says a missing Waterloo girl has been found.
Patience Peye was reportedly drunk when she drove away with her daughter, 10-year-old Precious Meisha Lovely Murray, in the car.
Edward Manneh, the boyfriend of Patience Peye, claims the woman has a drinking problem. Manneh says Peye had been drinking since Wednesday afternoon and he took her car keys and hid the alcohol in the house.
Around 6 a.m. on Thursday, Manneh heard the door open and got up to see Peye driving away with Precious in the seat next to her.
Around 10 a.m., Peye was found passed out in the driver's seat of the car. Precious was not in the car, but her clothes were still inside the car.
Peye was taken to the hospital and was is still unresponsive.
"When she drinks, it's a problem. If she don't drink, she would be the perfect mom ever. She'd do everything for her kids. But when she drinks, it's a big problem," Manneh said.
Police announced Thursday afternoon around 4:15 p.m. that Precious was found safe with family members.
Police are investigating the possibility that Peye was involved in a hit-and-run accident. Police say she is not facing any charges at this time.
The family is thankful that Precious is home safe. According to Manneh, Thursday was her 10th birthday.
