Alcohol sales go smoothly at TCF Bank Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (AP) - University of Minnesota officials say the first game with alcohol sales at TCF Bank Stadium went smoothly.

Schools spokesman Chuck Tombarge tells Minnesota Public Radio that extra security staff effectively isolated the area where alcohol was sold Saturday. Vendors stopped beer sales after halftime, as planned, and he says that led to less rowdiness.

Tombarge didn't have a number for incidents, but says they were lower than usual.

He also says officials haven't tallied up how much beer and wine vendors sold yet. He says wait times were around six to 12 minutes.

Around 47,000 people watched Minnesota beat New Hampshire 44-7, the most points the Gophers have scored in a game in five years. Attendance was slightly lower than average but the crowd enjoyed the win.
