CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Words such as thank you, Navy, USA, and Taylor Morris fill a second grade room at Lincoln Elementary in Cedar Falls.

"Well we are making posters for Taylor Morris," said Ethan Meyer, second grade student.

Ethan Meyer may not know Taylor Morris personally, but he understands who he is making a poster for.

"Taylor Morris is a guy who served in the Navy. He got hurt by a mine bomb," said Meyer.

Navy EOD Tech Taylor Morris from Cedar Falls lost portions of all four of his limbs after a bomb blast in Afghanistan. Since May, he's been going through rehab at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland

Second grade teacher, Krista Lindgren has had the rewarding but sometimes challenging job of telling her students Morris's story.

"We talked about the bravery when you are serving our country. What can happen and how lucky he was that his life was saved and what a hero he is for Iowa, Cedar Falls, and for our country," she said.

Lindgren also had the tough job of explaining what prosthetic limbs were as its a new learning experience for some of the seven and eight year olds.

"They really, really like seeing the pictures so that they could see what prosthetics looked like now and with the help of those he could stand, he was able to feed himself. He was able to do things he was used to one be able to do,"

Along with the students and staff at Lincoln Elementary, You are encouraged to line the streets after one Thursday afternoon to show your support.

The "Welcome Home" parade route will go from the Waterloo Regional Airport to downtown Cedar Falls.
