Rockwell Collins is cutting 140 positions, the company announced Monday. Company spokeswoman Pam Tvrdy says the layoffs impact about 80 jobs in Cedar Rapids.
The company issued this statement:
"Rockwell Collins today announced that approximately 140 professional and bargaining unit employees – primarily from Operations and Shared Services – have been notified that their positions are being eliminated. The locations mainly affected are Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Richardson, Texas.
"The company continues to evaluate all opportunities to reallocate personnel and resources as appropriate. Each of the company's business units and shared service organizations are identifying ways to reduce costs so the Rockwell Collins can better withstand the economic and market forces affecting business and to best position the company for long-term growth."
8,800 people are employed by Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids.
At the end of July, Rockwell Collins announced the elimination of 90 jobs across the company, with 55 positions cut at the Cedar Rapids plant. The cuts were primarily from the company's Government Systems operations.
