Romney to raise money in Minnesota

Updated:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is coming to Minnesota for a fundraising appearance.

An invitation says Romney will be in Minnesota on Aug. 23 to raise money for his campaign.

The fundraiser is due to be held at a private home in an upscale Minneapolis suburb, with a $2,500 a person donation giving access to a general reception and a $50,000 per couple contribution for a more-private dinner. The Romney campaign and the Republican National Committee will each get some of the proceeds.

The event will be on the Thursday night before the Republican National Convention starts the following Monday in Tampa., Fla.

Romney was beaten by former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in a nonbinding straw poll during Minnesota's February GOP caucuses.
