Byron boy taken to Mayo after possible lightning strike

RICEVILLE, Iowa (KTTC) -- A Byron, Minn. boy is fighting for his life at Mayo Clinic after possibly being struck by lightning in north Iowa.

According to Mitchell County Authorities, Riceville police responded to Lake Hendricks in Riceville Saturday morning.

Family members say 11-year-old Gunnar Starks was taken to the Mitchell County hospital after he was possibly struck by lightning and later transferred to Mayo.

Starks is in critical, yet stable, condition as of Monday morning.
