ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Nearly 800 fast-pitch softball players from around the Midwest are spending their weekend at Rochester's McQuillan Fields.
The teams all qualified for the American Softball Association - Northern National Fast Pitch Championships.
Rochester won the bid 18 months ago to host the event.
Girls ages 12 to 18 from seven states are competing for a national championship title.
Tournament organizer Ben Boldt says there's quite a bit at stake.
"It's a big deal. They're here, they're competitive the 18's division has several college scouts and coaches here watching them play so it's not only a great conclusion to their season, it could mean a future softball for them at the next level," Boldt said.
Tournament play continues through Sunday afternoon.
