Rochester ranks 5th in best places for aging

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Rochester is ranked 5th in the nation for one of the best small metro places for successful aging.

This list was compiled by the Milken Institute and ranked cities based on safety, affordability and comfort, cost of living and area tax rates.

Many seniors say they are having the time of their lives during retirement doing many of the things they didn't have time for before.

For many the key to enjoyment is remaining engaged and active, both mentally and physically.

Executive Director of the Senior Center, Sally Gallagher says, "The Senior Center's mission is to really take retirement years and, looking at quality of life, whether newly retired or in their 90s and providing activities that provide joy and satisfaction no matter what their age is."

Sioux Falls, South Dakota tops the list, followed by Iowa City, Iowa, Bismarck, North Dakota and Columbia, Missouri.
