WASECA COUNTY, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Waseca County USDA Farm Service Agency office is one of five in Minnesota that will be closed and consolidated with neighboring offices.
The Waseca office will close Wednesday, August 8 and consolidate with the Steel County office in Owatonna.
The plan is part of the USDA's "Blueprint for Stronger Service."
"Customers have been notified of the forthcoming office consolidations and will have their farm records automatically transferred to the new administrative office for uninterrupted service effective on the day of office closure," FSA State Executive Director Linda Hennen said. "Customers have also been given an opportunity to select a different office through which to do their business if the new administrative office will not be convenient for them."
Hennen said the agency has faced a variety of budget challenges for the past three years. The closure plan is an effort to gain efficiencies and maintain service to customers.
Other consolidations are the Nicollet County, Pine County, Chisago County and Scott County FSA offices.
