Storm damage in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (KTTC) --  Residents in Spring Valley are cleaning up after severe weather hit Wednesday afternoon.

The damage wasn't extensive throughout town, but some places were hit pretty hard.

The wind blew a 100-year-old tree onto Jerry Tjepkes' 97-year-old mother's home with the tree blown on top of the roof. Tjepkes says, "She said there was an awful wind that come and then she said she didn't know whether she should go in the basement or what. You know they're gonna work on it and try to get enough off of there so they can see what the damage is and if there is damage so they can patch it up so if it rains it won't get into that."

Spring Valley had five power lines down from the storm, but only two houses without power. Remnants were easily visible at parks and down county road one where parts of corn fields were taken out.
